Novena of Prayer for the Coming of the Holy Spirit

In these nine days between Ascension and Pentecost
let us pray earnestly for the coming of the Holy Spirit
to renew the face of the earth.

1 Come, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire
and lighten with celestial fire;
thou the anointing Spirit art,
who dost thy sevenfold gifts impart.

2 Thy blessed unction from above
is comfort, life, and fire of love;
enable with perpetual light
the dullness of our mortal sight.

3 Anoint and cheer our soilèd face
with the abundance of thy grace:
keep far our foes, give peace at home;
where thou art guide no ill can come.

4 Teach us to know the Father, Son,
and thee, of both, to be but one;
that through the ages all along
this may be our endless song:
     Praise to thine eternal merit,
     Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
     Amen.

Easter Vigil

Easter Vigil 2019 - the lighting of the Easter Candle with Bishop Ian

The Liturgy of the Easter Vigil is an ancient service featuring the Blessing of the Paschal Candle, the singing of the Exultet (the Easter Song of Praise) and a set of Readings and Psalms recalling the story of Salvation culminating in the singing of the Gloria, the Easter Gospel and the Renewal of our Baptismal Vows.

Some members of Holy Trinity have recorded readings and psalms from their homes which (together with some recordings of word and music from our church building) offer us with the opportunity to pray together and mark the Easter journey from darkness into light.
